Peeps....I must admit

I confess....I love peeps. But, I don't like them fresh from the package. No, I love them aged like fine wine...after the package has been open for a week or two and they get a bit stale. Rather then the soft marshmallow texture...I love the chewy, dryer version. Now that is how I prefer them, but if it's early in the Easter candy season I have been known to open a package and eat with complete abandon those soft, sweet confections.

It is only at Easter that I eat these marshmallowy treats. I know they are available for almost every holiday now, but it seems sacrosanct to eat them at any other time then Easter. I also eat the rabbits, but do not purchase any of the other designs. Only yellow or pink peeps or bunnies will do. I can't bring myself to eat the blue versions or any of the other colors.

Do you love peeps? Are you a closet peep eater? Do we all need to attend Peeps Anonymous?

I'm a huge candy fan, but not a fan of Peeps. Although they're delightful to look at and bring fond memories of Easters past. I never liked the consistancy of them...

I am half afraid to try your trick of letting them dry out because I have a sneaking suspicion I will like them that way. If I become a Peep fiend, it's all your fault...

I LOVE Peeps! And you are right. Stale peeps are WAY better then fresh ones. Whenever my husband buys some for me, he always opens the container and leaves them on the counter so they get nice and crunchy! :) I especailly love the tails on the chicks, I think they have the best texture. :)

That's funny. I hear that from others too. I don't like them at all either way, but all my friends let them air out and age... How funny! I like those Cadbury candy coated chocolate eggs. Yummers.

Autumn...I can't even look at the cadbury eggs, my son loves them, but when they break open I get a queasy feeling...isn't that odd?

True confessions: I've never eaten a peep. But if I did, I would try aging them as you do. That sounds pretty tasty.

I am not a Peep fan, but one of my cats loves them! He would eat twenty of them if he could, silly old cat.

My oldest daughter is a Peeps fan and would on occasion leave them to age. The rest of us seem to be more jelly bean fans. Although, my husband and younger daughter love the malted chocolate eggs.

I always found Peeps a little scary. They just stared at you ~: Never really liked them and always hated to see them in my basket.."there are those peeps again". I still don't like to look at them, but I think I might find them a pretty tasty if they were wearing chocolate Easter Bonnets!

Love that picture! Not as much a fan of the actual candy. If I can stomach one, I like them fresh. I can send you my day old ones. *wink

I do LOVE the Reeses peanut butter eggs (more than the pb cups). I always buy extras!

I don't like them either. I'm more of a chocolate Easter candy kind of girl. I'm LOL @ the thought of MAB's cat eating them.

If any peeps end up in my Easter Basket - I'll send them to you, Dear Rosie! xo

Peeps have actually undergone scientific experimentation in a laboratory. The findings are not for the faint of heart, but if you dare, check out the Peep Research website. I'll admit to liking it, but then, I have a strange mad scientist sense of humor! Here's the link:

Haha - I'm the same way - aged and crunchy for me! The traditional yellow are the best. Can't believe all the colors they have now - a wall of peeps in stores now!

Nope! I don't like them Sam I am. My family won't eat them either, so I never buy Peeps anymore LOL.

I love peeps! My grandkids do not! My Mom loves them too and does the same thing as you do, opens them up and waits until they are nice and hard!

I'm not a fan of Peeps, but I am proud to say Peeps are made in my hometown. Every year for New Year's Eve, they drop a fiberglass peep from a pole to ring in the new year. I haven't gone yet because I can't stay up that late, but I just found out they do an "early bird" peep drop at 6PM that night. So I'm bound to get there next year.

CHEEP!

I thought all this time that I was the only one who liked them that way. Have you tried the new Chocolate Mousse Peeps? Awesome!
