Grace G. Drayton (1877 - 1936) was the creator, illustrator of the Campbell's Soup Kids. It is also believed that she created a series of "kid" embroidery that was published by Ladies Home Journal in 1908. Originally these cute kids were used as marketing promotions on streetcars for the Joseph Campbell Company.
Illustrations were printed so that women could embroidery designs on a variety of household goods. Towels, tablecloths, napkins, pot holders... I imagine that a few of those pieces can still be found in antique shops or museum collections.
Here are a few examples of these cute kids! Don't they just make you smile and want to start humming...

I don't know if we had those ads in the UK, the children aren't familiar to me. The Artist's style reminds me of Mabel Lucie Attwell.
So Nifty...do you have Campbell's Soup there? It's so odd to think that it's not everywhere...
My kitchen is done in Campbell's soup and I have several embroidery patterns.

How cute are those!
Isn't it awesome how those kids are still around today?
I love these! Brings back memories of eating chicken noodle soup and crackers with my grandmother... love it!
So cute, I love their little faces.
We only live 10 minutes from Campbell Soup headquarters in NJ. They have a charming museum of sorts and have included some of these adorable pieces.
Thanks, Rose, for stopping by my blog. It means a lot.
