It's a Mystery To Me

While driving in northern Arizona last fall on route 89 through Page I saw these figures painted/billboarded on sides of buildings, silos and other places.

While some had both the man and the woman, most were just the man. I have no clue who they are and why they are important. If anyone who reads this knows the reason I would love to know.

They were kind of spooky looking, especially the man. It must have been a reflection off his glasses, but he reminds me of a character out of a Stephen King novel.

I can't help you with this one...but I kinda like them. Almost like a walk through time. Maybe they are tributes to real people?

Interesting pictures, Rose. They look Native American, especially the jewelry (silver and turquoise, etc).

Try inquiring with the tribes in the area. I'd love to hear if you find anything out about them.

Well, I'm sure they symbolize something or someone, but in Austin, we see alot of "guerilla art-graffitti with all sorts of random characters/images that appear to be relevant to the artist, but not necessarily to the place or anything. I would guess some artist's pet project/personal mission. Really neat images, gotta love those unique, quirky vacation finds!

Really interesting! It kind of looks like an art project to me, as well, possibly meant to symbolize an archetype, ghosts of the past, maybe. It would be interesting to find out more about them.
