Box Canyon Florence Arizona Off-Roading

Getting ready to head into Box Canyon.
This is really green for Arizona, this area is generally brown, no moss, nothing.

Beautiful rocks with interesting moss

Old mine entrance closed off

When you find water in Arizona, you take plenty of pictures

Our off-road Toyota FJ which is very capable

Another off-road enthusiast

Beautiful rock formations and colors

Look closely at the front tires....they are off the ground...
I'm taking pictures, can you guess why?

An old homestead, in the middle of nowhere.
You find things like this all over Arizona.

Box Canyon is just amazingly beautiful

We came across a cow

Later in the day and shadows arriving in the canyon

A Turkey Vulture looking for dinner

Snow in the desert... looking Southeast

Click on any of the pictures above for a larger version.
We practice tread lightly when we off-road.

Arizona looks so beautiful. And I have to say that I have a 4-Runner, and I love her. She's perfect off road. ♥

Such beautiful scenery. I love the rock formations. It is quite rare to see so much water in AZ though.

Gosh Rose. These photos are absolutely exquisite. I love these scenes. To answer your question, you're taking the photos; 1 for your blog. 2 you were afraid to ride in the vehicle under such treacherous conditions. Let me know if I'm correct.

Edna, lol....mostly because he is a daredevil and I felt safer outside of the vehicle! But the pictures came in handy too!

Box Canyon was really awesome 25 years ago when I used to ride out there. We would rarely see anyone else...and if we did, it was just another dirt biker, never anybody in SUV's or quads. There was a guy named Pete Villa Verde who lived in the house at the end of the cabin, and he was quite a character. There was a cavern back there that at one point had actually been walled in apparently and was a bar for the local miners. I miss being able to ride there.
