VanGogh Starry Night Hand Embroidered Cuff

I began the design on this cuff in November and finished embroidering it in December. It was a special order for an English Professor at a college on the east coast. Once I got over the fear of trying to recreate a master artwork in embroidery....I was excited to begin. I used about 50 different colors and shades of embroidery floss, put down some markers to keep everything in scale, and then picked up a needle and started stitching.

I spent many evenings stitching....and asking Mr.W what he thought. At first he was very kind because it didn't look like much at all, but as it got closer to being done he was as excited as I was with the outcome. As I placed the first stitches I never thought it would actually come out looking similar to the original. I only hoped that it would. What have you worked on lately that excited and scared you at the same time?

You can find this cuff in my shop as a limited edition. If you order one it will take a couple of weeks to complete.

I have to say that this is one of my favorite cuffs! I'm also really partial to your Queen Anne's Lace as well, but this one is a real stunner!

a while back someone asked me to do 2 tailored chokers; one black, one white. my style is very freeform so I was scared but went ahead... I figured it out and she was happy- whew!
